Alan Mullaly, President and CEO, Ford, made quite important announcements while his visit to Nanchang city on 20th June 2013. Nanchang is chosen as the manufacturing base for Ford-JMC vehicles. Apart from manufacturing the vehicles with individual identities, it is also agreed to produce those vehicles that will combine the best of the technologies owned by the composing partners of Ford-JMC duo. The announcement for assembling vehicles at the manufacturing plant located at Nanchang is seen as the strategic strengthening of the corporate bond shared by the two.
The occasion rose to the higher glory when seven millionth transit vehicle designed by Ford and JMC duo saw the daylight at the latter’s manufacturing base. With this tie-up, JMC Xiaolan Plant will be put to work in double speed as the targeted production is double from the original capacity. This is sure to translate into more job opportunities and better achievement of economies of scale by the plant owners.
Ford is already spreading its stake into JMC by increasing the stake value and has managed to capture the heavy duty commercial vehicle segment while using the latter’s premises. Increasing the stake value by around 1%, Ford is providing the required financial boost to JMC and is getting the opportunity to rule the Chinese market by winning the competition in cars and commercial vehicles’ market.
